First, excellent atmosphere. Really enjoyed the ambiance and setting. Would come again for the relaxed setting.

The food was uniquely made with distinctive ingredients and recipes. But I felt that didn't necessarily make it taste better. I had the cabonara and cacio e pepe and tiramisu. My favourite was actually the foie gras mushroom bisque.

While I might return at the right price, especially for the atmosphere, I would try different menu items as those recommended items, while interesting, weren't my type.

Wow! Indulgence at its finest! My recent dining experience at La Tavola was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I entered, the elegant ambiance and warm, welcoming staff set the stage for a culinary journey like no other. The attention to detail in every dish was remarkable, showcasing the freshest ingredients and a perfect balance of flavors. The handmade pasta was a revelation, and the wine selection impeccable. Newly renovated Italian restaurant La Tavola, is in the Renaissance Hotel Bangkok. In a city with thousands of restaurants and a foodie’s mecca, the standards are set very high.

After many hours spent at the airport and inside the plane, I was too tired to battle the Bangkok traffic and settled for the in-house restaurant.

The decorations are that of a modern chic restaurant with alcoves for privacy. Bright, clean and elegant. There’s a live jazz combo for weekend nights. Very cool.

The menu looks interesting with chef’s recommendations, pasta and pizzas. All the dishes sounded delicious.

The duck confit salad was ok. However the plating could have been better. There was a pile of white veggies on top of the greens and duck confit. Didn’t look too good.

Beef carpaccio was ok. The thin slices of beef were overpowered by the truffle oil on top of the arugula leaves. The dish needed a more balanced taste.

Pizza fresh from the oven can’t go wrong. But there’s the same truffle oiled arugula leaves scattered on it.

I had high expectations for my pasta dish of cheese and black pepper. The classic Roman dish which is surprisingly not easy to master.
Pasta was over cooked. I suspect cream sauce was used and black pepper sprinkled with it. It was lacking in texture and taste.

The restaurant was not very crowded. There was a birthday party, family dinner and romantic diners at the alcoves.

The Thai sous chef came out to chat with the guests. That was nice. And that’s the reason why the dishes were missing the mark.

This restaurant have promise if they have a proper chef.

The dishes are a bit pricy but the quality and portion didn’t meet the price😅. The pizza was watery which is very odd. Maybe it’s Italian style? And the pasta dish we ordered contained only 3 Italian dumplings and 2 very small pieces of lobster meat, the price is 690 for it. It is a main dish but couldn’t fill 1/3 of my stomach. Overall, I will not recommend.

The food is always delicious and the service is spectacular. The best part is the amazing bread that gets toasted in the wood-fire oven. I agree with a previous review, they could elevate the ambience by covering the cheap looking tables with table clothes. The only bad thing that I ordered were the chefs special meatballs. They were a slightly raw in the middle and not cooked through. Other than that, I will definitely return.
