The idea behind the restaurant, Kigawa, is that it is styled in a way that is known as "kappo". Kappo is a style that means cutting and simmering when it comes to one’s food. Thus, when enjoying the kappo style of food making, customers can order what they like in a la carte dishes seasoned with numerous ingredients. After making the choice of what each guest would like to eat, Chef Osamu Ueno cooks it from scratch directly in front of the customer at the counter. At Kigawa, guests can feel free agency to communicate with the chef in order to have the best experience while getting the exact taste they are craving. Every freshly picked ingredient is assorted in an array on the plate in order to leave a lasting impression as guests dine on some of the most amazing food, such as hot fatty tilefish, lean meat, pan-seared buttery fat duck, concentrated sweet grape jelly, and more!
After walking along the alleyways in Hozen-ji Yokocho, you will find yourself at Kigawa’s warmly lit doors. Appearing as a small house near Namba station, one can truly feel like they are being welcomed into a dear friend's home as they walk into Kigawa.
