Tempura Koizumi is a two-starred tempura restaurant that specializes in serving freshly fried tempura using seasonal ingredients from Toyama. The chef, Tomoo Takano, showcases his skills at a lively counter, providing guests with an interactive dining experience. Originally from Osaka, Mr. Takano trained for about 16 years at the renowned tempura restaurant "Ippo" in his hometown before venturing out on his own and opening Tempura Takano in 2013. He chose Toyama as the location for his restaurant based on the recommendation of a former senior co-worker who had opened a restaurant in Kanazawa. In tribute to him, Mr. Takano included his name, "Koizumi," in the restaurant's name. The tempura at Tempura Koizumi is fried individually with care in 100% safflower oil using rigorously selected seasonal ingredients primarily sourced from Toyama.
